DQ WINTER MARKETING UPDATE |
|
|
The region has had a busy autumn period, with the alignment of Easter and Anzac Day creating an extended holiday period, helping to boost visitation by 19% YoY in April providing a great lift heading into May. As we now look to the arrival of the winter season, the forward outlook is sitting ahead of the same time last year which is positive.
DQ’s winter marketing activity has been live in Australia since 1 March, and in the domestic market from 1 May. Results so far show appetite is strong for our winter proposition, with 160K+ member referrals (AU and NZ) since 1 March, up 10% YOY.
The winter media programme is off to an epic start with huge interest from news media outlets, broadcasting the buzz of winter. A line up of hosted travel writers and journalists will see winter stories published to domestic, Australian and longer haul markets.
The trade team had a busy May with TRENZ and the Southern Lakes post-TRENZ famil. The team will head to Brisbane and Gold Coast to promote the Southern Way, and in August will attend the TECNZ Annual Tourism Conference. The QCB team recently held their annual Domestic Famil and are currently representing Queenstown and Wānaka at MEETINGZ 2025 in Auckland.
The end of May saw the successful return of the Electrify Queenstown event, with three days of workshops, presentations, trade show and field trips. Dates for next year’s event will be 17-19 May 2026.
And finally, from 1 July, DQ and LWT will be operating in the full shared services model, which reflects our commitment to smarter collaboration, greater efficiencies and a strategic approach to tourism across the region.
