These hot pools overlooking the Shotover River are iconic, but the best kept secret is how magnificent they are after dark. Evening sessions start at 6:00pm, 8:00pm, and 10:00pm. Book one of the cedar-lined hot tubs and admire the sky full of stars. 

Savour the stars at Headwaters Eco Lodge with an evening for two on Saturdays at 6:30pm. You'll be treated to a renowned Chef’s Choice three-course dinner, a telescope viewing with local guides talking you through the Dark Sky Sanctuary, and beanbags to cosy up in front of the fire with mulled wine and toasted marshmallows.

Head up the Gondola after dark and join a Skyline stargazing tour. Your guide will take you to a dedicated area on Bob's Peak, away from light pollution. There, you’ll have a clear view of the night sky to use high-powered telescopes to see distant galaxies, the Southern Cross, the Milky Way, and other stellar sights.
