Kia ora Friend,

It's hard to believe it's been 12 months since the launch of Love Queenstown!

For me, the highlight of the last year has been our industry planting days, a collaboration with Mana Tāhuna and the Whakatipu Reforestation Trust, which saw over 200 volunteers from the tourism industry came together to plant more than 4,000 trees helping to enrich the biodiversity of the region.

The recent launch of our first community funding round is another exciting milestone with local charitable entities now able to apply for grants to support their work in the climate, conservation, and biodiversity spaces.

The Love Queenstown Community Fund was born out of the love we have for this place, and our desire to protect and restore it for generations to come. Today, that love is as strong as ever thanks to our community of changemakers dedicated to leaving this place better.

We're proud of all we've achieved so far and can't wait to continue on this journey.

Read on for some highlights of the last 12 months.

Aroha nui and thanks for your support,

Ash Bickley, Community Fund Coordinator

Launching our inaugural funding round

Each year, Love Queenstown allocates funds to local organisations and initiatives who are working to regenerate Queenstown’s environment.

Grants of up to $10,000 are available to local charitable organisations who are taking climate, conservation, or biodiversity action. Applications will be assessed by our independent distribution committee.

If you're a local environmental organisation, find out how you can apply for funding.

Enabling hands-on environmental action

Our volunteer hub has helped visitors use their trip to make a difference and leave a positive impact on Queenstown. We've also partnered with the Whakatipu Reforestation Trust and Mana Tāhuna to bring Queenstown’s tourism industry community together for three days of environmental action, planting thousands of trees.

Showcasing our community of changemakers

Over the past 12 months we've had the privilege of sharing the stories of inspiring locals helping to protect this special place now and into the future.

From sustainable beer to organic wine, reusable serveware, eco-lodges and the repurposing of heritage buildings – there’s so much good happening in Queenstown.

We love sharing stories of our people and place. Reach out if you have one to tell.
